Anxiety Counselling Vancouver

Over the past decade the prevalence of anxiety has risen significantly, impacting more and more of us. Symptoms of anxiety disorders include challenges in falling and staying asleep, difficulty concentrating on meaningful work or relationships, and a paralyzing sense preventing decisive action. Physical manifestations may involve heightened heart rate, sweating, elevated blood pressure, and breathing difficulties. Anxiety frequently coexists with depression, although some people will only experience one or the other.

As the most prevalent and treatable mental health condition, anxiety affects everyone but symptoms are generally short lived and do not cause problems. When cognitive, physical, and behavioral manifestations are persistent and severe enough to cause distress and impair daily functioning, it may signal a departure from the normal range. It can be overwhelming and difficult to face but I’m here to support you with anxiety counselling.

Helping anxiety symptoms involves addressing both your mind and your body’s nervous system. Counselling and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), a research-based approach, is the most effective treatment for anxiety disorders and depression, providing valuable support in managing these challenges.

The good news is that all anxiety disorders are treatable. I have extensive training from the Beck Institute and am CBT-certified in treating anxiety, depression and suicidality through their programs. I’m also able to help with psychoeducation about depression, and the various symptoms and types of depression. Since there is no single cause of depression, I help by taking a holistic view and listening to your concerns in order to come up with the best treatment plan.
