If you are going through the painful step of separation or divorce from your partner, I can help you. Through counselling, I’ll provide unwavering, objective support throughout this challenging and potentially stressful period. I’ll be your guide in helping you prepare and plan throughout the process, on issues such as successfully separating yourself physically, announcing the news to family and friends and handling the high level of emotions.
If there are children involved, we’ll focus on putting them first, deciding how to communicate the separation to different ages, and how to best support them through all the changes. The goal is to create a positive atmosphere in which to co-parent your children.
Working together, we’ll determine how to handle the transition of separation or divorce as well as you can, while keeping your head above water.
Is separation and divorce therapy for individuals or couples?
It can be either. Individual therapywill be more personal, a time during which you may grieve the loss of your partner and sense of family; and create new healthy boundaries with your ex. We can focus on staying connected within the family, finding your support system, rediscovering who you are, and what a new healthy relationship will look like when you are ready for one.
Separation & divorce therapy for couples will be focussed on topics that you have in common, such putting children’s needs first, how to successfully communicate with one another and learning how to co-parent.
Do you offer counselling sessions by phone or online video?
Yes. You may choose from phone or online video appointments. I also provide 30-min check-ins for established clients.
